Fall wildlife pictures from the last three weekends

Early on September 15th saw this mule deer buck just looking to have is picture taken.  We were on the upper loop at the National Bison Range at Moiese Montana.  Southwest part of the Mission Valley.

Just before heading towards the top of the upper loop, happened to hear a noise in the grass as I was taking pictures of two larger mule deer.  I looked then exclaimed "it's a bear" and pivoted my camera into action and got this wonderful picture of a young black bear just above me.  John was running for the bear spray.  This bear just walked on past and then headed down the mountain behind us.

This was taken the following weekend on September 22 on the lower St Mary Lake shoreline just south of Babb Montana.  We had taken a drive over the Going to the Sun Road at Glacier National Park and headed to the Many Glacier area.  This was just a few days after the road was reopened to personal vehicles from being closed for the Howe fire near and along Lake McDonald.  Today they closed the road due to snow and ice.  You never know when this road will be open or closed to vehicles.

This picture was taken as we were heading down on the western side of the Going to the Sun Road and heading back home.  The leaves were almost at their peak.  Just a perfect day trip.

Today were headed back down to The National Bison Range for an early morning trip.  Caught this mule dear posing not to far from the vehicle.  What a wonderful place to visit.  If anyone is in the area, you need to stop.  The upper one way loop does close for the winter.
